Privacy policy

Tempo is a day planner that keeps your data on your phone. There is no Tempo account and no Tempo server. We (Arcris Silang, the developer) never receive, see or store what you put in the app.
This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
What stays on your phone
Everything you create in Tempo is stored only on your device:
- Your blocks, sub-blocks, notes, checklists, templates and their schedule
- Workouts, sets and exercise history
- Trackers, habits, mood check-ins, weekly reflections and streaks
- Recorded outdoor routes (walks, runs, hikes and rides)
- Your settings, including your OpenAI API key if you add one
Tempo has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting. We don't sell or share your data, and we don't build a profile of you.
Your phone's own backup (for example an iCloud device backup) may include Tempo's data, the same as for other apps. That backup is controlled by your Apple or Google account, not by us. Your OpenAI API key is never included in a Tempo backup file.
Apple Health and Health Connect
If you choose to connect them, Tempo reads these from Apple Health (on iPhone) or Health Connect (on Android):
- Body weight
- Steps
- Sleep
- Workouts
Tempo uses them only to fill in your weight, steps and sleep trackers, creating them if you have none, and to mark gym and outdoor blocks done on days you worked out. Tempo never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect.
Health data stays on your phone. Health values such as your weight, step count, sleep hours and workout details are never sent to OpenAI or anyone else, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold. You can turn access off at any time in the Health app (your profile › Apps › Tempo) or in your phone's settings, and stop Tempo's automatic sync with Disconnect in Settings.
Location
Tempo uses your location only while you record an outdoor activity, to measure distance, pace and the route you took. If you allow it, recording continues while your phone is locked, so a walk or run isn't cut short. Tempo doesn't use your location at any other time. Routes are stored only on your phone.
The AI assistant and Sol (optional)
The assistant and Sol's written suggestions are off until you add your own OpenAI API key and agree to share data with OpenAI. Tempo asks for that agreement before anything is sent.
Once you have agreed, Tempo sends these to OpenAI, using your key:
- When you chat: the messages you type, and the parts of your plan the assistant looks up to answer you: block titles, times, notes, status, streaks, templates and summaries of your outdoor activities (distance, time and pace, not the route itself).
- When you tap Read it in New block: the text you typed, so Sol can fill in the time, repeat and reminder.
- When Sol shows a card: a short summary so Sol can word its line. For the daily brief this is counts (blocks planned, done, behind, overlapping), the names of streaks due today and the next block's title. For the gym suggestion it is the exercise name, weight, reps and number of sessions. For the weekly insight it is completion counts per weekday and your longest streak. These are sent at most once a day (once a week for the insight) and the answer is kept on your phone.
The status of a block (done or not) can reflect a workout from Apple Health or Health Connect, if you let Tempo mark gym and outdoor blocks done. No Health values are sent.
OpenAI handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy (openai.com/policies). Because the requests use your API key, they belong to your OpenAI account. Tempo has no server in between and never sees them. You can stop sharing at any time: turn off "Share data with OpenAI" in Settings › AI assistant, or remove your API key. Without it, Sol still shows its own lines, worked out on your phone.
AI answers can be wrong. Check anything important before you rely on it.
Other connections
- Maps. Map images come from OpenFreeMap (openfreemap.org), using OpenStreetMap data. Your phone asks for the part of the map you're looking at, which reveals your IP address and that area to OpenFreeMap, as with any website.
- Fonts. Tempo's fonts are built into the app. Nothing is downloaded to show text.
- Notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to a notification server.
- Backups. When you export a backup, Tempo creates a file and hands it to the place you choose (Files, a message, email and so on). Where it goes after that is up to you. The file includes your trackers, which may contain values that came from Apple Health or Health Connect.
Your choices
- See or export your data: Settings › Backup › Export backup.
- Delete your data: Settings › Clear all data, or delete the app. Because nothing is stored on our side, that removes it completely (apart from copies in your own backups or OpenAI account).
- Turn things off: Health access, location and notifications can each be switched off in your phone's settings. The assistant and Sol's suggestions only use OpenAI while sharing is on.
Children
Tempo isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app and on this page with a new effective date.
